Favorite Christmas Movies

I love watching movies! It may be one of my favorite things to do...curl up on the couch with a good movie! In the spirit of Christmas, I thought I would share some of my Christmas Favorites! I must say I have already watched several of these too. Thursday night was Home Alone {it was on tv}, Friday night several of us went to dinner and watched Christmas Vacation and last night we watched Four Christmases.

Four Christmases was so funny. I saw it last year in the theatre but I bought it a few weeks ago and forgot how funny it was. Vince Vaughn cracks me up and of course I love Reese Witherspoon!

Some of my other Christmas movie musts are..............

So there you have it...these are a Christmas must every year! What are some of your favorite Christmas movies?

It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Well can you believe its almost December? This year has flown by for me what about you? I have been listening to Christmas music for the past three weeks which excites me. I love Christmas time....everything about this time of year is wonderful. I love the smell, sound, feel, spirit....love it all! So most of the Christmas decorations are up so now we can sit back enjoy it all. I finished the tree about an hour ago....excuse the picture I took it with my phone {I have "misplaced" my camera}. I'm frustrated and sad about this but I'll find it...its somewhere in the house...Im just not sure where!?!?!

So Santa surprised me early with a Christmas gift {well kinda...Ive seen it but I don't get it until Christmas} I got a NEW camera! I have about 4 compact cameras and I promise they all have had great use but its time to upgrade!! I got a Nikon SD5000 {aahhh...Im so excited} I was definitely not expecting this gift either!! I cant wait to put my photography skills to use.

I not only got the camera but 2 lenses...the one above and the one below.
My church founded "Christmas in a Red Bag". CRB is for single parent families. You adopt a family and purchase Christmas presents and deliver them in a red bag. My girlfriends and I have decided this year instead of doing dinner and a gift exchange, we agreed to adopt a family. Today at church we received our family. A mom, daughter and son. I am so excited to be able to pray and shop for this family. God is so good and I pray this family realizes and can feel his love for them.
My birthday is the 20th! Im not sure what all will be going on but dinner with friends and family is always a must!! oh and a cake. haha! {my mama has never let me down}
I hope everyone had a great weekend....my dinner just got here so we are off to eat and watch a movie!
Have a great night!!

Well Thanksgiving has come and gone! I hope everyone had a wonderful day and ate plenty of yummy food.....I sure did! My mom had Thanksgiving dinner at our house again this year and she definitely out did herself. Now don't make me tell a lie...my mom is not much of a cook...she enjoys cleaning {more like OCD when it comes to cleaning} but she rather not cook. So thanks to Fresh Market and my moms friend who owns a catering company.....our meal was pretty much catered! All mom had to do was purchase the food and warm it up. She did cook some of the meal but the main parts she bought. hahah!!!!

I got to spend time with both my grandmothers, uncle, cousin, brother {they all live out of town} and more family and friends!!! In all it was a great day! I do have pictures but they need to be downloaded so I apologize. Ill be sure and post them soon!!

I hope everyone had a blessed day and have a great weekend!

Thanksgiving Eve

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!!
Well it's that time of year again....time to gobble til you wobble! I don't know about y'all but I'm going to try my hardest not to overdue it this year. There is no reason to eat until I'm miserable....Ill just try so hard to eat small portions of it all and eat more later {not at one sitting}. I love food but my diet has really changed this year especially the last few months so I do not see a reason to go and ruin it now. Gosh its just so hard when the temptation of all the yummy foods and desserts are staring at you!

This is also the time of year when we are reminded of all the things we are THANKFUL for. I always do my best to THANK the lord everyday for all my blessings!! After all we are to GIVE THANKS IN EVERYTHING. Sometimes that is tough to marinate especially when we face certain situations. I'm so thankful for my family, friends, house, job, food, clothes, car, health, church and so much more. These are things I thank him for daily!! However this morning on my ride into work, I started thinking of the things that I'm thankful for and the blessings that came in disguise. Like I said earlier -GIVE THANKS IN EVERYTHING-

I know I have mentioned my sister Robin several times in my blog. For those who are not familiar with my blog, my sister passed away in 2006 from brain cancer. {she fought for 7 years} I'm so THANKFUL for the years my sister was here and the love and joy she blessed us with. I'm most THANKFUL for her walk with the lord. Robin showed me what it was like to truly walk with the lord. I'm so thankful that I have my sister to thank for my relationship with the lord!!!

There have been times in my life when I have wished I was married with a family. {especially since most of my girlfriends are married or engaged} but I'm thankful that God has shown me the other side of my singleness. I am able to grow closer to him and serve him in ways that I may not have if I had a family. I have more time than some of my married friends or friends with children...I have time to go out and serve and spend quality time in his word.

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever. - 1 Chronicles 16:34

I hope everyone has a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving. Be sure to take time and think about what all you are THANKFUL for.

The Blind Side

Okay I went last night and saw the Blindside! GREAT MOVIE!! Everyone I talked to said nothing but wonderful things about this movie and I totally agree! This true life story took place very close to home for me! Not the story itself but the actual places and family. Mike Oher did not go to Wingate he attended Briarcrest Christian School which is where Highpoint {my church} is located. Briarcrest moved campuses and Highpoint now resides on the old Briarcrest campus. It was really neat to see the movie and know that this all took place in a town where I live. I live about 30-40 mins from downtown Memphis but it is truely a sad situation for most inner city children and families. I do not want to give the story away for those who have not seen it yet but it really breaks my heart to think of the children that are never given a chance. I think its so easy sometimes for people to overlook children and teens bc people think "well they chose to be that way.....where's their family" The sad truth is....a lot of children born into poverty, drug addiction, prostitution...etc....never really knew any different. They do not realize the big world around them and the chances they have. As Christians and children of God, it is our responsibility to go out and reach these children become decsiples of Christ, mentor children...etc!

I can honestly say that I was touched by this story! What an amazing family the Tuohy's are to give this young man a chance.

Weekend Recap

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope everyone is ready for Thanksgiving....I AM!! I love spending time with my loved ones and not to mention a day off work. ha!!
So I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I did but I must say I'm totally exhausted today. My weekend started on Thursday!! I got off work and headed to spin class. After the gym I went home and crawled in bed by 8:00.....why you may ask?!?!?! Well I needed a few hours of rest before heading to the movie theatre to see what else........NEW MOON! HA. Yes I was one of the "crazies" with a midnight ticket. I'm so tired of everyone "knocking" the Twilight series....Hey Haters, don't knock it til ya try it!!! Also, I'm very aware that vampires DO NOT exist and that this story is made up!!! Okay I get it....I'm sure you still saw E.T and realized this was not real...what about Back to the future, Star Trek, Batman....oh I could go on and on.....ITS A STORY....A MOVIE!!! Okay now I feel better. ;) hah!

So then Friday started out early. I had a bridal lunch to attend at noon. We had a wonderful time. One of my oldest childhood friends got married Saturday. Friday we spent the day being pampered....we had lunch, a spa day and then rehearsal. That evening we had dinner and Audra gave all the bridesmaids Tiffany tag bracelets with out initials on the backside of the tag. What an awesome gift. I was so excited when I tore off the paper and saw a blue box!! Saturday night was the wedding and a fun one it was! I must say this wedding was hands down a blast!! Thanks Audra for being such a wonderful Bride....loving, caring....what a great friend. I hope we made your day as special as well!

Sunday I had church and then headed home and stayed in bed ALL day. Last night I finally emerged from my room to go help my mom decorate for Christmas. Ill be sure and post pics soon....I love CHRISTMAS and everything about it! We usually wait until Thanksgiving to put our tree up but you know you know the longer I get to enjoy the decor the better. So I would rather put it out as soon as possible!

Tonight after work I am going to see the Blindside. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this movie! I'm excited!!

Hope everyone had a wonderfully blessed weekend!!

My most favorite and cherished thing would most definitely be my Bible!! The best love letter ever written!

My favorite flower is the Gerbera daisy....well I love daisies in general! Something about these flowers brighten my day.

My all time favorite candy would have to be Turtles. I remember as a child my mom and I would sit with a glass of milk and devour an entire box. I never buy these because I know what would happen if they were in the house. I love collecting stationary. No, I do not hold on to it...I enjoy writing people and sending cards!! Who loves snail mail? Me!! I love jeans and I would have to say my all time favorite jeans ever would be my 7 for all Mankind pairs. I could buy 10 pairs of the same jean. They always fit and never wear out! I love tall boots! Yay for Fall and Winter....this means jeans/dresses & boots!! Im pretty sure I go to Target atleast once a day or atleast everyother day! My favorite store would have to be Target....you can get it all there!

Tonight's the Night

Okay for all of us long awaited Twilight saga fans.....Tonight is the night. I know I have said this before and I will say it again....When I first heard of Twilight I laughed. I turned down seeing the movie twice and refused to read the book. Why? bc it did not interest me at all! Vampires...yeah right! Everyone kept telling me to give it a try bc of the love story.....nope still not interested. Well people I GAVE IN. One of best friends is OBSESSED and that's to say it politely. Candice finally convinced me to give in....so what did I do. I went to Target and bought the book...that's all it took, I was hooked. THANK YOU CANDICE!!!

So, now that I have finished the series I am patiently waiting for the movies to come out and tonight is the night for New Moon! The showings start at Midnight....who is going?!?!? Me!!!!!!!!! Crazy right. I'm off work tomorrow so why not. I have waited long enough....why wait any longer.

Well tonight will be a great night! A little Bella, Edward & popcorn!!

Happy Hump Day

I am so happy it is Wednesday....tomorrow is my Friday!! Im off work Friday and Im so happy about it. Anyways I have to share this incase anyone is interested. My bestie called me last night to inform me that our favorite running shorts were on sale. These seriously are the BEST shorts I have ever worked out in and I have pretty much every color. But since these were on sale, I had to purchase some more...hey, they are on sale. These usually cost $28.00 and right now under the Clearance catagory you can purchase certain colors for only $14.00. Woohoo. Oh and when your checking out, enter the word GIFT in the promotional code box and you can get FREE shipping. {gotta love a deal} Here are the 2 pairs I bought this morning.

I know getting cold out and I wear pants to the gym usually but I cannot wear pants to spin class bc its just way too hot so these shorts will definitely get some use this winter.

Im sad to say I missed the Biggest Loser last night but it has been recorded and I will be watching it this evening...I hear the makeovers were amazing. I cant wait to watch.

Slacking

Hey everyone! Sorry I have been MIA for a few days....I'm slacking for sure...not only on my blog but reading every one's. This past weekend was a busy one. Hopefully Ill sit down and upload some pics this week!

I finally watched the Ugly Truth last night. Great movie. We laughed so hard...I'm not sure what I was expecting but it took me by surprise. I love Katherine Heigl. If you have not seen this movie its worth watching.

Im a bit bummed because tonight on the Biggest Loser we will be seeing every ones makeovers. Why am I bummed???? I have to record it!!! That's okay...at least I still get to see it. We had to switch our bible study to tonight instead of tomorrow for this week only. Ill survive because I LOVE my group so spending time with them is always nice. Im really excited bc we are starting a new book by Francine Rivers. I have read several of her books and Loved them all. We are reading A VOICE IN THE WIND. Ill let yall know how it is......but if you are looking for a new book I totally recommend REDEEMING LOVE. {amazing}

I hope to catch up on every one's blogs here in the next few days....Ill be busy with wedding festivities this coming weekend so please don't think I forgot about yall!!

Friday!!

I don't know about y'all but Im super pumped that today is F-r-i-d-a-y. Makes for a good day! I went to spin last night and OUCH is all I have to say. This was my first time to spin in about 2 months....I have been to the gym but not to spin. Yikes! This class usually is an hour {which seems long enough} but last night they added 15 more mins to it. I survived and pushed through. Needless to say Im more than a bit sore today.

I get my hair did in the a.m. Yay! Its always WONDERFUL when you get fresh highlights. My mom does hair and its so hard finding time to do my own. It takes weeks to get into her when you make an appointment so I usually get put on the back burner. Most girls love to get their hair done....me on the other hand....not so much. I don't know why its not relaxing to me but its not. I'm impatient, so its no fun sitting as she weaves little pieces of my hair...then I get so hot under the dryer....and the bowl they wash your hair in hurts my neck plain and simple. BUT....all the pain is worth the beauty! haha!

I hope everyone has a fun weekend planned....if nothing more just sit back and enjoy it! Happy Friday!!

CMA's

So who watched the CMA's last night? Me!! Once I got home from work I threw on some jammies and plopped down in front of the tv! Seriously...Country Music awards are my favorite. Could it be my love for country music or just the fact that I pretty much love all the country artists out there!! My lovely friend Catherine was able to attend the show last night with her hubby David so of course I was stalking the crowd for them. Cat, you looked BEAUTIFUL...I saw ya girl! ;)

The show started of with a bang! Carrie and Brad are the perfect Hosts'

{"Mama, don't let your babies grow up to be Kanye/Let 'em pick guitars and drive 'em ol' trucks/Cowboys have manners, they don't interrupt." }

I laughed so hard at all the fun they had with Kanye and Taylor. Lets see then Little Jimmie jumps on stage and pulls a Kanye

{"Excuse me, excuse me, sir. I'll let you finish later. Now Brad Paisley, I know you had a nice video and all that, but Taylor Swift made the best video of all time! Of all time! You go, girl!"}

Taylor Swift had a night to remember. I think the girl took home every award possible. haha!
I thought everyone looked great and the performances were too!

Compassion

I want to share and give yall an opportunity to learn a bit about Compassion if you have never heard of this ministry!! Kelly from Kellys Korner & her husband Scott are in El Salvador right now....Kelly has been sharing her experience in her blog. Please head over and read about her trip!! Compassion is a WONDERFUL ministry and I cant say enough about it. I know I have blogged before talking about it and the little boy I sponsor--Chumandev! I have tons of people ask me "How do you know your money goes to the children"? Well, I have FAITH and I also know that It is part of my job here on earth to take care of Gods children and share his word. I get tons of other questions as...some I can answer some I cannot but I promise if you read what Kelly is experiencing during her visit you will be able to see and understand how and why Compassion is so amazing. Not everyone can sponsor a child but everyone can pray for these children and families! God Bless them!!

I pray that I too will be able to go visit my sponsor child- Chumandev- someday in India!

Monday blues

Happy Monday! Hope every ones Monday has been a good one....mine...well it could have been better but it could of been worse. I tend to have acid reflux "attacks" often and last night I had none other than an attack. YUCK! I literally have it so bad that I feel as if I have a stomach virus--minus the fever and aches. {you get the point} so last night I literally slept sitting straight up....I have to prop my pillows up so that I can lay in my bed with my back in "sitting" position. Today I went to my doctor and she put me on a prescribed antacid medicine...Prilosec isn't cutting it anymore. So hopefully this will work. Today I have had plenty of

I'm not a soda drinker but when I have acid reflux, its the one drink that helps. Thank goodness for Sprite!!

So, after getting plenty of rest today I am laying here watching Gossip Girl and catching up on every ones blogs. I was out of town part of this weekend so I have a ton of reading to do.

Oh I do have a bit of exciting news...well it may not excite you but it did me. hah! So Saturday I headed to Jackson Ms with some friends to do some shopping. We went to Mistletoe Marketplace at the fairgrounds. I purchased quite a few goodies but I was so excited about one of my purchases. My girlfriends thought I had lost it but....I grew up watching Days of our Lives....this was the only soap opera I watched but I LOVED it! Bo and Hope were my favorite couples and guess what....Hope...better known as Kristian Alfonso was in Jackson with her jewelry line Faith Hope Miracles.

I purchased 2 wooden bracelets like the ones on Kristian's wrist below. I got one brown and one black.

She was just as beautiful in person and SWEETER than I could have ever imagined. She was so personable and was talking with everyone. Great Salesperson for sure! Anyways...I was so excited to be able and meet Kristian...aka Hope Brady. haha!

Have a great evening!!
